Routine Maintenance
Your Angel of Water® CM-1 Surround is designed to be virtually maintenance
free, aside from sanitizing the
unit at the first of the day and after each use. However, the following
items will need to be replaced periodically
due to normal usage. See Appendix A for maintenance logs.
CAUTION: If moving the
Angel of Water® CM-1 Surround to another location, move by hand
or
padded piano dolly. To avoid cracking the fiberglass body, NEVER move
the System by metal-bladed
forklift or dolly.
Filters
The carbon cartridge in the Standard Carbon Filter canister (for initial
water filtration before water enters the
large main tank) should be replaced every 15,000 gallons or 3 months.
The sediment cartridge in the UV
Light Filter should be replaced every 16,000 gallons or 4 months.
The practitioner should keep a log (see samples in Appendix A) of carbon
and sediment cartridge
replacement dates to know when the manufacturer’s recommended
period of use has elapsed. The
manufacturer states, however, that filter life will vary depending upon
usage and water conditions—
i.e., the amount of particulate in the public water supply.
To change the filters:
1) Turn off mixing valve. Relieve pressure in lines by spraying water
from tower sprayer into main tank.
2) Unscrew bottom of filter housing from cap, which comes off with ease
after relieving pressure. Take
special care when lowering UV housing to change filter so as to not
damage quartz sleeve.
3) Locate and remove O-ring, wipe clean of lubricant, and put aside.
4) Discard used cartridge. Relubricate O-ring, insert in groove, and
press into place (important to ensure
a proper seal on filter housing).
5) Insert new cartridge, making sure it slips over the standpipe in
the bottom of the housing.
6) Screw the bottom of housing onto the cap. Hand-tighten, making sure
cartridge slips over the top stand pipe.
7) Turn on the water supply slowly and allow System to fill with water.
Flush cartridge for 15 minutes
before using. Check for leaks before resuming regular use.
Maintenance/Routine Maintenance —
Light Bulbs
The Tower Cabinet and Viewing Tube compact fluorescent bulbs have been
selected for their longevity and
should last for approximately 8,000 hours.
WARNING: Always use compact fluorescent light bulbs in your system.
Never use incandescent
light bulbs, which may cause damage to the equipment that will not be
covered by the limited warranty.
To replace bulbs when they go out:
1) Unscrew and remove the old bulb.
2) Screw into place a new COMPACT FLUORESCENT bulb.
UV Lamp
WARNING: Remember always to disconnect electrical power to the UV light
when servicing it and
remember NEVER to look at the lighted UV lamp.
The UV lamp is rated for 7,500 hours of continuous use and not longer
than 24 months of intermittent use.
If the UV lamp is not changed out after 7,500 hours of continuous use,
its disinfection performance will be
drastically reduced due to photochemical changes that lessen the water
purifier’s ability to kill bacteria. The
practitioner should keep a log (see sample in Appendix A) of UV lamp
replacement and servicing
dates to know when the 7,500 hour (continuous use) or 24-month (intermittent
use) period has elapsed.
The Service Chapter in the Severn Trent manual that came with your System
gives explicit directions on changing
the UV lamp. When replacing the UV lamp, the quartz sleeve will need
to be cleaned as well, since minerals
and debris settle and deposit onto the quartz sleeve with use.
Directions are as follows:
1) Turn off the water and disconnect electrical power to the UV unit.
2) Straighten the UV lamp wiring harness and carefully remove the old
UV lamp from the quartz sleeve
and drain the UV chamber.
3) Using hand pressure or an open-ended wrench, back off the compression
nuts and carefully remove
the quartz sleeve.
4) Wash quartz sleeve with a mild soap and hot water solution and rinse
clean with hot water.
5) Slide new lamp carefully into clean quartz sleeve, pushing on the
lamp all the way in.
6) Be sure there are no marks or fingerprints on the UV lamp. (Clean
with denatured alcohol and cotton if
necessary.)
Refer to the Service chapter in the Severn Trent manual that came with
your System to determine how often the
quartz sleeve in the UV Filter unit needs to be cleaned.

Diaphragm Kit for Delta Tank Level Valve
After years of use, the Tank Level Valve may cease to open or close
completely when main tank is filling with
water, indicating that the diaphragm is worn out.
Directions to replace it are as follows:
1) Unscrew tank level valve head counterclockwise to reveal worn diaphragm
and remove.
2) Unscrew inner plastic fitting to expose two black washers and replace.
3) Screw plastic fitting back into place.
4) Put new diaphragm over plastic fitting and screw Tank Level Valve
head clockwise for use.
All of the above-listed replacement parts for your Angel of Water®
CM-1 are available through
Lifestream Purification Systems, LLC.
